Overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Paralegal to support the in-house legal and compliance teams. This is an entry- to early-career, full-time position based in Trade, VA with a flexible hybrid schedule (3 days in office, up to 2 days remote per week). The role focuses on legal research, drafting memos and reports, compliance support, and project coordination.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform legal research and summarize findings for attorneys and compliance partners
  • Draft memos, letters, and internal reports based on research and initial analysis
  • Review, proofread, and edit documents, forms, and reports
  • Track case law and statutory changes and report impacts to the business
  • Assist with legislative-history research and corporate-structure reviews
  • Conduct due diligence and assist with document-retention reviews
  • Prepare compliance reports and support governance and annual reporting tasks
  • Manage law department projects and legal databases (e-mail, document systems)
  • Support process-improvement efforts within the law department
  • Perform administrative duties such as organizing legal files and binders
  • Participate in client and internal meetings as needed
  • Other duties as assigned to support the legal and compliance functions

Minimum Qualifications

  • Paralegal degree, two-year certification, or associate’s degree in paralegal studies
  • Strong legal research and writing skills
  • Experience using legal research databases (LexisNexis, Westlaw, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyze legal issues, exercise sound judgment, and manage competing priorities
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to grasp complex legal concepts
  • Capacity to take direction and manage time effectively

Preferred / Desired Qualifications

  • 2–4 years’ paralegal experience in an in-house legal environment preferred
  • Familiarity with the life insurance industry or willingness to learn
  • Experience with LinkSquares, SharePoint, or Concur is a plus

Compensation & Work Location

  • Base salary: $60,000–$65,000 per year
