Position type & location
This is a full-time, on-site Paralegal role supporting nursing home negligence and personal-injury matters at a confidential law firm office in Hamilton Square, NJ. The role requires regular interaction with attorneys, clients, and third parties, and strong litigation support skills.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
- Draft and respond to discovery requests, pleadings, and routine procedural motions
- Manage case timelines, court deadlines, and calendaring
- Maintain professional communications with clients, opposing counsel, and third parties
- Enter and update case information accurately in Filevine
- Support investigations by identifying at-fault parties and assessing liability
- Communicate with clients to collect details on injuries, treatment, and losses
- Review and analyze medical records, billing documentation, and related materials to support liability and damages claims
- Identify applicable health insurance coverage and possible liens
- Draft demand letters and other legal documents — strong writing skills required
- Prepare exhibits, visuals, and documents for settlement negotiations, litigation, and trial preparation
What We’re Looking For (Qualifications)
- Minimum: Paralegal Certificate, Associate’s degree, or Bachelor’s degree
- Preferred: 2+ years civil litigation experience; plaintiff personal injury / nursing-home negligence experience a plus
- Proven experience with litigation workflows and case management systems (Filevine experience preferred)
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- High attention to detail, well organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to work independently with good judgment and discretion
- Professional communication and customer-service demeanor with clients and colleagues
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new legal technologies
Compensation & Benefits
