Role overview

This Packaging Process Engineer role (Entry / Early Career) supports a confidential client focused on orthopedic medical device manufacturing. You will join a Packaging Process Engineering team based in Memphis, TN and help move new products into production, optimize packaging equipment and processes, and ensure packaging meets regulatory and quality standards.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and coordinate packaging process engineering projects from concept through implementation.
  • Develop and optimize packaging processes and equipment, including sealing and forming equipment, vision/inspection systems, labeling and barcoding, and electronic data capture systems.
  • Validate packaging processes to meet ISO 11607 and related regulatory requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational process and equipment issues on the packaging line.
  • Support nonconformance (NC) and CAPA activities — drive investigations and continuous improvement actions.
  • Support equipment, product, and supplier transfers; evaluate design and material changes for packaging.
  • Create and maintain process documentation using the client’s change management systems.

Who we’re looking for (Qualifications)

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience:
    • 0–2 years relevant experience; internships or early-career experience in medical device, healthcare, or regulated manufacturing are appropriate.
  • Core skills & competencies:
    • Strong communication and technical writing skills.
    • Hands-on troubleshooting and process documentation experience.
    • Familiarity with packaging equipment and inspection systems is a plus.
  • Desired mindset:
    • Detail-oriented, collaborative, and committed to quality and patient safety.

Preferred / Nice-to-have

  • Exposure to ISO 11607 and packaging validation protocols.
  • Experience with vision systems, barcoding/labeling equipment, or sealing/forming machines.
  • Prior internship or co-op experience in medical device manufacturing.
