What You’ll Do

This opportunity with a confidential client supports new product introductions and ongoing maintenance for a prestige beauty packaging portfolio (skin care, lip, liquid, and powder foundation categories). You will provide hands-on engineering support from specification through production.

  • Support new product introductions by developing implementable packaging solutions that meet technical, regulatory, and brand requirements.
  • Maintain and update packaging components, spec sheets, and technical documentation for existing SKUs.
  • Create and manage Bills of Material (BOMs) to ensure accurate components, quantities, and configurations.
  • Review and validate packaging drawings and artwork for completeness, manufacturability, and brand compliance.
  • Plan and perform package testing (performance, durability, regulatory compliance) and document results.
  • Lead and support packaging technology transfers and line trials with manufacturing to validate processes under production conditions.
  • Investigate packaging-related consumer complaints, determine root causes, and recommend corrective/preventive actions.
  • Enter and maintain packaging data in relevant systems to support traceability and production efficiency.
  • Collaborate with R&D, factory, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless product development and launches.
  • Manage priorities across 50–60 SKUs in a high-volume environment while maintaining attention to detail.

What We’re Looking For (Essential Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering (or closely related engineering discipline).
  • Internship experience as a Packaging Engineer or a minimum of 1 year of professional packaging engineering experience.
  • Hands-on experience creating and managing Bills of Material (BOMs).
  • Experience reviewing and validating packaging artwork and drawings.
  • Foundational understanding of packaging engineering principles for consumer products.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in technical documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams (R&D, manufacturing, quality).
  • Capacity to manage multiple SKUs and projects in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Packaging engineering experience within beauty or cosmetics product categories.
  • Familiarity with FDA-regulated manufacturing environments and documentation practices.
  • Demonstrated experience with package testing methods and evaluation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for root cause investigations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Location: Hightstown, NJ (on-site / hybrid).
  • This position operates inside an integrated R&D + factory + manufacturing facility that follows FDA-regulated processes.
  • Typical schedule: three days onsite per week (Tuesday and Wednesday mandatory; one additional onsite day selected by the employee). After initial training (~1 month), some remote flexibility is available on non-onsite days.
  • Standard workday: 7 hours, start around 8:00 AM or 9:00 AM. Seasonal/operational schedule adjustments may apply (e.g., half-day Fridays during certain months).
  • Team size: packaging team of ~20 engineers; collaborative technical environment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Contract position — pay range: $38.00 - $40.00 per hour.
  • Actual compensation offered will depend on factors such as experience, qualifications, and location.
