What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level P&C Field Technologist Associate to perform hands-on work installing, testing, calibrating, troubleshooting, and maintaining protection & control (P&C) devices and related station equipment. Responsibilities include:
- Test fundamental protection and control devices and equipment periodically and as required.
- Calibrate relays and P&C equipment on pre-established schedules.
- Operate test computers and tools to retrieve and analyze device data (oscillography, event/DFR/SDR).
- Troubleshoot and repair electromechanical and microprocessor-based relays (card-level repairs, power supplies, comms/I‑O cards).
- Assist with installation, commissioning, and testing of P&C systems and communications (PLC, tone, pilot wire, fiber, RTUs, station SCADA).
- Assist with switching under Dispatching Authority direction and participate in trip testing teams.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and drawings; ensure installations match electrical schematics before placing equipment in service.
- Maintain test equipment in good working order and follow safety procedures for energized switching up to system ratings.
Who We’re Looking For
Education & basic requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program.
- Entry-level role — suitable for new graduates.
- Must successfully complete the Physical Abilities Test (PAT).
- Must be able to distinguish colors on a standard color blindness test.
- Valid state driver’s license and ability to meet vehicle operation requirements.
Preferred skills and competencies
- Working knowledge of current, potential, closing, and trip circuits.
- Familiarity with protective relay and control circuit materials (cable, lugs, wire).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical prints and schematics.
- Basic fault analysis using oscillography and event data.
- Strong communication skills — able to document results and interact courteously with customers and coworkers.
- Willingness to travel and work overtime as assignments require.
- Demonstrated initiative and a drive to grow technical proficiency under the guidance of senior staff.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Ability to climb ladders and work at various heights; work outdoors and in confined spaces.
- Ability to lift and carry required test equipment and tools.
- Work will require use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safe practices for switching energized equipment.
- On-site role based in Fostoria, OH (see location below).

Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly pay (posted): $30.52 / hour.
- Compensation range listed by the client: $35.84 – $44.80 per hour.
