What You’ll Do
This is a field-based, territory sales role covering North Carolina and South Carolina. As an Outside Sales Representative (internally titled New Business Development Representative), you will learn the fuel-distribution business while building relationships with retail gas station and convenience-store operators.
- Identify and qualify prospective wholesale fuel customers and supplied locations across the NC/SC retail market
- Generate new leads using cold calls, field canvassing, referrals, online research, networking, and partnerships
- Build and manage a sales pipeline; track activity in CRM and follow through to close opportunities
- Develop professional relationships by understanding customer operations and needs
- Support growth and retention of existing customer accounts and the client’s book of business
- Learn partner-branded fuel programs and use product/brand knowledge to position solutions
- Stay current on industry trends, local market dynamics, and competitor activity
- Work toward individual sales and new-business goals with coaching from sales leadership
- Represent the client at customer visits, trade shows, and industry events as needed
Estimated pay: $66,905 per year (estimated)
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree or relevant experience is a plus
- 0–3+ years sales experience welcome — the role is suitable for recent graduates and early-career sellers; prior fuel-industry experience preferred but not required
- Demonstrated motivation to learn, strong work ethic, persistence, and a professional customer-facing manner
- Comfortable communicating by phone, email, video, and in-person
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) and aptitude to learn CRM and sales tools
- Organized, self-directed, and able to work independently in the field
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required for regular travel within the assigned NC/SC territory
- Willingness to work flexible hours (including early mornings and evenings) as the role requires
- Current residence within North Carolina or South Carolina required
