Description
This is an entry-level research support role working on a grant or research project for a Confidential Client. The position provides administrative and technical support to research staff and the principal investigator (PI). Daily tasks include recording and organizing data, performing preliminary analysis, preparing basic graphs and charts for reports or publications, and supporting routine lab operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist the PI and research team with day-to-day lab operations and project tasks
- Record, organize, and verify experimental or project data
- Perform preliminary data analysis and prepare graphs/charts for reports
- Maintain and operate specific laboratory equipment under supervision
- Support safety compliance: assist with chemical inventory, safety training documentation, and routine lab housekeeping
- Help manage and order lab supplies and chemicals as requested by the PI
- Provide regular updates on research progress during weekly group meetings
- Follow established protocols and document work in lab notebooks or electronic systems
Qualifications
Minimum requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 1 year of relevant experience (higher education may substitute for experience)
- Eligibility to work in the U.S.
Preferred / helpful skills:
- Prior laboratory or research support experience
- Basic data entry and spreadsheet skills (e.g., Microsoft Excel)
- Familiarity with standard lab equipment and safety procedures
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
Notes:
- Degree equivalency: the Confidential Client may apply experience-for-degree substitutions consistent with applicable public-employer rules (for example, substitution guidelines similar to SB 1310 where relevant). Minimum qualifications that require a high school diploma remain exempt from substitution.
