Role Summary
Confidential Client (Manufacturing) is hiring an Operations Supervisor to lead daily inbound/outbound warehouse distribution operations in Pontiac, MI. This onsite, full-time role rotates between 1st and 2nd shifts as business needs require. The Operations Supervisor will manage represented/union team members, maintain inventory and quality control, enforce safety standards, and drive continuous improvement using lean principles. This is an entry-level leadership role supported by on-the-job training and professional development.
What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)
- Demonstrate and enforce standardized processes for inbound/outbound warehouse operations
- Lead, coach, train, and motivate direct reports and represented workforce members
- Monitor and achieve Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, and Cost KPIs
- Cultivate a strong safety culture; implement and enforce workplace safety rules and policies
- Implement GMS and lean principles; identify improvement opportunities using tools such as layered audits
- Maintain positive working relationships with employees, union representatives, and management
- Evaluate team performance, promote continuous improvement, and help solve operational problems
- Complete administrative tasks (timekeeping, departmental records, basic reporting) as required
- Train, develop, and evaluate employees; stay current on parts distribution center/warehouse performance and costs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Supervision & Leadership
- Oversee and guide department and shift operations
- Lead, train, and evaluate union team members in a collaborative manner
- Foster a positive working relationship between peers and union partners
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable industry regulations
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- Willingness to work 1st or 2nd shift as assigned by business needs
- Availability for overtime, including weekends as needed
- Ability to develop, maintain, and analyze operational data
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications (Competitive Edge)
- Previous supervisory experience in a union environment
- 3–5 years supervising employees in manufacturing, warehouse, or logistics operations
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Work Location & Schedule
- Location: Pontiac, MI (onsite)
- Full-time; rotation across 1st and 2nd shifts required by business needs

Compensation
