What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

The Operations Supervisor will lead daily operations in a parts distribution / warehouse environment in Burton, MI. This is a hands-on leadership role with responsibilities that include supervising represented/union teams, maintaining inventory accuracy, enforcing quality and safety standards, and ensuring shipments meet schedule requirements. This position will rotate into first and second shifts as business needs require.

  • Demonstrate and ensure adherence to standardized processes and procedures
  • Motivate direct reports through coaching, training, recognition and clear communication
  • Identify opportunities for improvement using tools such as layered audits
  • Meet Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, and Cost Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Cultivate a safety-first culture and enforce workplace safety rules and policies
  • Implement GMS and lean principles to drive operational efficiency
  • Maintain positive working relationships with employees, union representatives, and the management team
  • Evaluate team performance and promote continuous improvement
  • Communicate quality goals and lead problem-solving efforts
  • Administer company policies consistently and fairly
  • Complete administrative tasks such as timekeeping and departmental record-keeping
  • Train, develop, and evaluate employees
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Supervision & Leadership

  • Oversee and guide department operations and daily workflow
  • Lead, train, and evaluate a team of represented/union team members
  • Foster collaboration between peers and union partners
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable regulations

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent work experience
  • Willingness to work 1st or 2nd shift as determined by business needs
  • Willingness to work overtime, including weekends as needed
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and analyze operational data
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Preferred Qualifications (Competitive Edge)

  • Previous supervisory experience in a union environment
  • 3–5 years supervising employees in manufacturing, warehouse, or logistics settings
  • Experience implementing lean manufacturing or GMS practices

Compensation (Estimated)

  • Estimated pay: $83,301 per year (estimate shown on original posting). Actual pay may vary based on experience, location, and other factors.
