Operations Management Trainee — Overview

Confidential Client is hiring an Operations Management Trainee for a 12-month rotational training program based in Ellenwood, GA. This entry-level program is designed for candidates with limited or no prior less-than-truckload or transportation operations experience and provides hands-on operations training, CDL and forklift certification, leadership development, and a direct path into frontline supervisory roles.


What You’ll Do

  • Participate in a 12-month rotational operations management training program with 1–5 week assignments across field operations, linehaul, maintenance, and support functions.
  • Work primarily on the dock alongside frontline teams in a physically active, operational environment.
  • Attend internal Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training and obtain forklift certification during the program.
  • Learn and perform foundational tasks across rotations to develop a broad operational understanding.
  • Complete leadership training modules and meet weekly learning objectives and performance milestones.
  • Communicate regularly with your program manager, reporting manager, and assigned mentor.
  • Develop and present a Capstone project at the end of the program that demonstrates readiness for frontline leadership.
  • Upon program completion, transition into a Freight Operations Supervisor role at a location within the assigned region.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent military experience.
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA or equivalent academic standing.
  • High level of stamina, adaptability, and grit; able to work in a fast paced, operational environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Willing to relocate within the assigned region upon program completion.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, or related field.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience via internships, academic projects, athletics, or work.
  • Prior experience working on a dock or in field operations.
  • Strong communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Estimated pay: $75,044 per year (estimated).

Program Details & Start Date

  • Program length: 12 months.

  • Successful completion leads to promotion to Freight Operations Supervisor at a location within the assigned region.
  • Note: Applicants who receive a conditional offer may be required to pass a pre employment drug test and background check.
