Operations Management Trainee

What You’ll Do
This 12-month, hands-on Operations Management Trainee program places you in rotating operational assignments to build the skills needed for frontline leadership in freight operations. Typical responsibilities include:
- Participate in a 12-month rotational program with 1–5 week assignments across field operations, linehaul, maintenance, and support functions
- Work on the dock alongside frontline teams in a physically active environment
- Complete CDL training and forklift certification provided during the program
- Learn and perform foundational tasks for each rotation and support continuous improvement efforts
- Complete weekly learning objectives and performance milestones; report progress to your program manager and mentor
- Deliver a Capstone project and presentation at the program conclusion
- Prepare to step into a Freight Operations Supervisor role upon successful program completion
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent military experience
- Minimum 2.5 GPA
- High level of stamina, adaptability and grit for physically and operationally demanding work
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
- Willingness to relocate within the region upon successful completion of the program
Preferred qualifications:
- Degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, or related field
- Demonstrated leadership experience (internships, academic projects, athletics, or work)
- Experience in dock or field operations
- Strong communication, problem-solving and organizational skills

- Annual base salary: $63,000 (incentive-based; may include bonuses or incentive plans)

Program Details & Start Date
- 12-month rotational management training program designed for candidates with limited or no prior LTL / transportation operations experience
- Internal CDL school and forklift certification provided as part of the rotation
- Assignments will rotate across key operational areas to give broad, hands-on experience
- Program start date: 2027-01-11
- Upon successful completion, trainees will be promoted to Freight Operations Supervisor within the assigned region
- Note: conditional offers may include background checks or pre-employment drug testing
Location
- Chicago Heights, IL — this role is onsite and dock-based. Candidates should expect physically active work and the need to relocate within the region after program completion.
