What You’ll Do

This Operational Materials Planner role is operationally focused and serves as the site-dedicated interface between an API manufacturing site and the API Raw Material Hub. You will ensure accurate, timely demand data flows into central planning and that buying and invoicing activities are executed efficiently.

  • Own the completeness and timing of site-level demand and materials inputs; collect, validate, and standardize site data.
  • Normalize and aggregate site inputs into a single network view to support central materials planning.
  • Serve as the primary interface between API manufacturing sites and Central Materials Planning—ensure clear, consistent communication and escalate issues as needed.
  • Execute transactional buying activities: material ordering, purchase order creation/changes, delivery issue resolution, invoicing support, and supplier follow-up aligned with the network materials plan.
  • Maintain accurate ordering master data in SAP (vendor records, material info records, source lists, pricing conditions) to support clean purchase order execution.
  • Act as the day-to-day transactional interface with suppliers after demand approval: manage ordering, delivery, and documentation communications.
  • Resolve operational buying and planning issues with urgency, driving KPIs for transactional accuracy, on-time delivery, and supplier performance.
  • Contribute to network-level metrics and reporting by maintaining transactional data quality and supporting KPI tracking.
  • Support automation and system improvements to streamline demand intake, PO processing, and supplier communication workflows.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, operational manufacturing environment.

Preferred

  • Prior internship or co-op experience in supply chain, procurement, or manufacturing operations is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Power BI; SAP experience is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Interest in supply chain operations, materials management, or pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Compensation & Details

  • Pay rate: $22.80 - $27.85 per hour.
  • Employment type: Full-time, 12-month contract with potential extension or conversion to permanent.
  • Work model: Hybrid — typically 4 days per week on-site at the manufacturing site.
  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (site standard hours).

Location & Work Environment

  • Primary work location: Uptown, IN (site-based role with regular on-site expectation as noted).
  • Role requires close coordination with manufacturing teams, central planning, and external suppliers. Ability to work on-site and communicate with multiple stakeholders is essential.
