Role overview

Confidential Client is hiring an Open Rank Research Services professional to provide post-award research administration and grants management support. This is an onsite, full-time post-award role based in Centennial, CO. The role partners closely with departmental leadership and faculty to manage sponsored projects, ensure compliance, and deliver accurate financial forecasting and reconciliations.


What you’ll do

  • Manage post-award activities for sponsored projects, including grant account activation and grant close-outs.
  • Administer contracts and subawards; coordinate sponsor communications and compliance requirements.
  • Reconcile grant, AEF and gift accounts monthly; review transactions for appropriateness and accuracy.
  • Prepare monthly financial projections and variance analyses for Principal Investigators and finance leadership.
  • Monitor award budgets, process cost transfers, and support award reporting and closeout activities.
  • Use grants-management systems and financial software (e.g., PeopleSoft Finance, InfoEd) to maintain accurate records.
  • Support federal award management (NIH, NSF, DoD), applying Uniform Guidance and sponsor-specific policies.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and guidance to faculty and departmental stakeholders on post-award issues.

Required qualifications

Minimum education and experience differ by rank:

Entry level

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, public administration, or closely related field (or equivalent combination of education and related experience).

Intermediate

  • Bachelor’s degree (as above).
  • 1+ years of progressively responsible experience in research administration, grants management, finance, or closely related area.

Senior

  • Bachelor’s degree (as above).
  • 2+ years of progressively responsible experience in research administration, grants management, finance, or closely related area.

Preferred qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business, accounting, public administration, or related field.
  • Demonstrated post-award grants management experience, including reconciliations, forecasting, and closeout.
  • Experience managing federal sponsored awards and knowledge of Uniform Guidance.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, complex financial models).
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Finance, InfoEd, NIH eRA Commons, xTrain, or financial reporting systems.
  • Experience in academic, medical, or research institutions and compliance-driven environments.
  • 3–5 years of progressively responsible research administration or grants management experience (preferred for senior hire).

Knowledge, skills & abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong relationship-building and customer-service orientation.
  • Ability to analyze, forecast, and present complex sponsored-project finances.
  • High attention to detail, sound judgment, and ability to work independently.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency for financial analysis and reporting.

Compensation & benefits

  • Anticipated pay ranges (based on rank):
    • Entry: $50,160 - $63,804 per year
    • Intermediate: $54,586 - $69,433 per year
    • Senior: $59,012 - $75,063 per year
