Overview

Confidential Client is hiring an Open Rank Research Services Professional (Post Award / Research Administration). This on-site role in Aurora, CO supports post-award grants administration, contract/subcontract oversight, financial reconciliation and forecasting, regulatory compliance, and closeout for sponsored research projects. You will partner closely with departmental leadership and faculty to ensure sponsored projects are managed accurately, compliantly, and efficiently.


What You’ll Do

  • Activate and manage grant accounts and start‑up accounts
  • Administer contracts and subcontracts and maintain sponsor communications
  • Reconcile grant, AEF, and gift accounts monthly and review transactions for appropriateness
  • Provide monthly financial projections and forecasting to PIs and department leadership
  • Process grant account close‑outs and ensure compliance with sponsor and institutional policies
  • Oversee human subject and research animal compliance related to sponsored awards
  • Serve as a trusted financial partner to faculty and leadership on post‑award matters

Work Location

  • Onsite in Aurora, CO — this position is expected to work on site.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Entry level:
    • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, public administration, or a closely related field.
  • Intermediate level:
    • Bachelor’s degree (above) plus 1+ years of progressively responsible experience in research administration, grants management, finance, or closely related area.
  • Senior level:
    • Bachelor’s degree (above) plus 2+ years of progressively responsible experience in research administration, grants management, finance, or closely related area.
  • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business, accounting, public administration, or related field
  • Demonstrated post-award grants management experience: reconciliations, projections, forecasting, closeout
  • Experience managing federal sponsored awards (NIH, NSF, DoD) and knowledge of Uniform Guidance
  • Advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, complex financial models)
  • Experience in academic, medical, or research institutions
  • Advanced experience in forecasting, variance analysis, cost transfers, and compliance monitoring
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Finance, InfoEd, NIH eRA Commons/xTrain, or financial report management systems
  • For senior professionals: 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in research administration or grants management

Compensation & Benefits

Anticipated hiring ranges (starting salaries by rank) — provided in the source posting and applicable for Aurora, CO:

  • Entry: $50,160 - $63,804 per year
  • Intermediate: $54,586 - $69,433 per year
  • Senior: $59,012 - $75,063 per year

Confidential Client offers a comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, retirement contributions, paid time off, tuition benefits, transit passes, etc). Total compensation includes pay plus benefits.
