Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an Occupational Therapist (entry-level to early-career) to join their Physical Rehabilitation team in Valhalla, NY (Westchester County). This role focuses on delivering patient-centered occupational therapy services to support recovery, independence with activities of daily living (ADLs), and return-to-function goals in a hospital/institutional setting.

Hiring range: $43.74 - $54.98 per hour.


What You’ll Do

The Occupational Therapist will evaluate, plan, and deliver therapeutic programs and purposeful activities to improve patients’ physical and mental functioning.

  • Plan and conduct medically prescribed occupational therapy programs in hospital/institutional or community settings.
  • Evaluate patients to determine current levels of function, ADL capability, interests, and therapy goals.
  • Design individualized activity programs (manual arts, functional practice, prevocational/vocational tasks, homemaking, sensory-motor and perceptual training).
  • Teach and coach self-help skills (eating, dressing, writing), use of adaptive equipment and prostheses.
  • Fit and fabricate non-complex splints, braces, and adaptive devices under supervision and per prescription.
  • Coordinate care and treatment plans with the multidisciplinary rehabilitation team (PT, nursing, psychiatry, social work).
  • Administer therapeutic exercises to restore joint motion, strength, coordination, and manual dexterity.
  • Observe, document and evaluate patient responses and progress; maintain required records and progress notes.
  • Support patients’ psychosocial adjustment and development of sociofunctional living skills.
  • Select and maintain supplies and therapeutic materials; ensure a safe, organized therapy environment.

Who You Are / Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program (Bachelor’s required; Master’s preferred).
  • At least six months of supervised occupational therapy experience acceptable to the New York State Board for Occupational Therapy.
  • Must possess either a valid New York State Occupational Therapist license and current registration, or a New York State limited permit to practice occupational therapy and application/registration to sit for the licensing examination.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and communicate in English sufficiently to perform essential duties.
  • Strong documentation skills and comfort using standard computer applications (EMR, spreadsheets, email).
  • Manual dexterity, creativity, emotional maturity, good judgment, and the physical ability to meet the demands of the role.

Preferred / helpful:

  • Experience with ADL training, splinting (non-complex), perceptual training, and use of adaptive devices.
  • Team-oriented mindset and experience collaborating in multidisciplinary rehab settings.
