Nursing Assistant - Patient Support Float Pool (Full/Part Time)

What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring part-time Nursing Assistants to join a hospital float pool. In this role you will rotate across clinical units (five areas), provide direct patient care under RN/LVN supervision, and support patient comfort and safety.
- Provide hands-on patient care (bathing, mobility assistance, feeding, hygiene).
- Monitor and document patient condition; report changes to nursing staff.
- Perform routine clinical tasks: blood glucose checks, specimen collection, bladder scans, use of continuous passive motion devices.
- Support therapeutic communication with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Assist with implementing and updating nurse care plans.
- Sit 1:1 with patients as assigned and provide observation/support.
- Follow infection control, safety protocols, and confidentiality (HIPAA) requirements.
- Rotate as part of a float pool — adapt to different unit workflows and patient populations.
Qualifications
Candidates must meet the minimum requirements listed below. All references to employer/agency have been replaced with "Confidential Client."
- United States Citizenship: appointments may be limited by federal policy where applicable.
- English language proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Minimum education/experience (one of the following):
- Six months of general experience demonstrating ability to learn NA tasks; or
- One year of education above high school with courses related to nursing/health care; or
- Completion of an intensive, occupation-related training program for nursing assistants (may satisfy entry-level requirements).
- Grade-level distinctions (selection may occur at GS-3 through GS-5 equivalents based on experience/education):
- Entry level (GS-3): meets basic requirements; closely supervised.
- Intermediate (GS-4): one year specialized experience or two years post‑high school education related to nursing care; must demonstrate KSAs including patient care, equipment use, and therapeutic communication.
- Full performance (GS-5): one year of progressively responsible assignments equivalent to GS-4 or a bachelor’s degree with 24 semester hours in healthcare-related coursework; may serve as a preceptor and manage more complex patient assignments.
- Demonstrated KSAs:
- Ability to provide range of patient care and support nurse care plans.
- Ability to observe, identify, and escalate physical or emotional changes.
- Competence with basic diagnostic/treatment equipment and specimen collection.
- Effective communication with patients, families, and care team members.
- Transcripts may be required for certain education-based qualifications.
- Physical requirements typical for nursing assistant duties; generally do not require pre-placement exam.
Preferred
- Previous hospital nurse aide or float pool experience.
- Comfortable working varied part-time shifts and rotating unit assignments.
Compensation & Schedule
- Employment type: Part-time (float pool).
- Pay range (provided by client): $37,821 – $61,751 per year (pro-rated for part-time hours).
- Shift flexibility required; assignments may include day, evening, or overnight rotations depending on unit needs.
- Position may include 1:1 sitting/observation assignments.

- This is a clinical/hospital environment requiring physical activity, lifting/assisting patients, and close teamwork.
