Position Overview
Confidential Client is seeking a Nursing Assistant (Specialty Care) to join a clinical team in Sioux Falls, SD. This full-time role supports patient/resident care across specialty settings and contributes to the delivery of safe, high-quality nursing services under the direction of licensed nursing staff.
What You’ll Do
- Provide bedside care and assist with activities of daily living for patients/residents in specialty care settings.
- Observe and report changes in patients’ physical or emotional status to the supervising nurse in a timely manner.
- Assist licensed nursing staff with procedures and use of diagnostic/treatment equipment such as bladder scanners and blood glucose monitors.
- Collect routine specimens and assist with basic diagnostic tasks following facility policies.
- Communicate effectively with patients/residents, families, and the interdisciplinary care team.
- Participate in orientation/precepting of new Nursing Assistants as assigned.
- Recognize and respond to emergent situations (e.g., basic life support needs, bleeding control, behavioral crises) and escalate per protocol.
Qualifications (Minimum & Grade Guidance)
Candidates must meet basic eligibility requirements and demonstrate relevant experience or education for the appropriate grade level.
- Basic requirements:
- English language proficiency for direct patient care.
- Ability to meet physical demands: frequent standing/walking, bending, lifting, pushing/pulling, and occasional lifting arm overhead.
- Meet one of the following:
- Six (6) months of general experience demonstrating ability to learn NA duties; OR
- One year of education above high school with relevant courses; OR
- Completion of a focused, occupation-related training program.
- Grade breakdown (examples of qualifying experience/education):
- GS-03: Entry-level; meets the basic requirements.
- GS-04: One year of NA or related medical experience, or two years post-high-school with relevant coursework; demonstrates foundational KSAs for patient care.
- GS-05: One year of progressively responsible NA experience equivalent to GS-04 or a relevant bachelor’s degree; demonstrates advanced KSAs including preceptor duties and independent recognition of emergent care needs.
Preferred / Helpful Skills
- Experience with bladder scan, blood glucose monitoring, specimen collection, or similar equipment.
- Strong therapeutic communication and basic clinical observation skills.
- Ability to function as a team player in outpatient, long-term care, or specialty clinic settings.
Work Schedule & Location
- Location: Sioux Falls, SD (on-site)
- Employment type: Full time
- Physical demands: Regular standing/walking and manual tasks consistent with direct patient care. Successful candidates may be required to complete a pre-employment medical/fitness evaluation.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range (as provided): $40,121 - $58,612 per year.
