What You’ll Do
This Nursing Assistant will support direct patient care as part of an interdisciplinary clinical team. Typical duties include:
- Provide hands-on patient/resident care and assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding, mobility).
- Take and record vital signs, weights, intake/output and basic observations; report changes in condition to nursing staff.
- Assist licensed nurses with simple diagnostic and treatment procedures (e.g., specimen collection, blood glucose checks, bladder scans, continuous passive motion devices) per client protocols.
- Contribute to nursing care plans by documenting care and communicating observations to the RN/LPN.
- Maintain safe, clean patient environments and properly use equipment, materials and supplies.
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients/residents, families and the care team.
- Follow infection-control procedures, safety policies, and any required occupational health protocols.
- When assigned at higher grade levels, serve as a preceptor/mentor to new Nursing Assistants.
Minimum Qualifications
The following are required for consideration:
- U.S. citizenship (required by client policy for this posting).
- Six months of general experience demonstrating the ability to learn the skills required for a Nursing Assistant, OR one year of education above high school with courses related to the Nursing Assistant occupation, OR completion of an intensive, occupation-related training program of less than one year that prepares you for Nursing Assistant duties.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Ability to meet physical requirements and health/occupational screenings required by the client (e.g., immunizations, background checks).
Preferred / Grade-Specific Qualifications
Candidates may be evaluated for assignment between GS-3 and GS-5 based on experience, education and demonstrated KSAs:
- GS-3 (Entry): Meets basic requirements; works under close supervision.
- GS-4 (Intermediate): One year of specialized Nursing Assistant experience or equivalent education (e.g., two years above high school in relevant courses). Demonstrated ability to perform technical nursing support and therapeutic communication.
- GS-5 (Full Performance): One year of progressively responsible experience at or equivalent to GS-4, or a bachelor’s degree with 24 semester hours related to health care. Demonstrated ability to assist across the full range of nursing care, serve as a preceptor, and respond appropriately in emergent situations (basic life support, bleeding control, behavior crisis support).

Compensation & Employment Details
- Salary range: $43,881 - $71,645 per year (range provided by client).
- Employment type: Full-time; Contract.
- Location: Reno, NV (on-site).
- The actual grade offered may be within the GS-3 to GS-5 range depending on qualifications.
