Overview

Confidential Client is seeking a dependable Nursing Assistant to support a Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (MH RRTP) in North Little Rock, AR. This on-site, full-time role focuses on direct patient/resident care within a behavioral health / residential rehabilitation setting. The position range is GS-03 to GS-05 (full performance at GS-05).


What You’ll Do

You will provide hands-on care and support to patients/residents in a mental health residential rehabilitation environment. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Assist with daily living activities (bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting)
  • Contribute to and help implement individualized nurse care plans
  • Observe and report changes in physical or emotional status to supervising nurse
  • Perform basic diagnostic/support tasks (specimen collection, blood glucose checks, bladder scans, use of continuous passive motion devices)
  • Support behavioral health interventions and use therapeutic communication techniques
  • Assist in emergent situations (basic life support, bleeding control, behavior crisis intervention) while awaiting additional assistance
  • Serve as a preceptor or mentor for new Nursing Assistants when assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following paths and demonstrate the required KSAs:

  • U.S. Citizenship where required by client or federal policy (applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.); proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Six months of general experience demonstrating ability to learn Nursing Assistant duties. OR
  • One year of education above high school with courses related to nursing or healthcare. OR
  • Completion of an occupation-related training course for Nursing Assistants (under one year) that meets experience requirements.

Grade-specific guidance:

  • GS-03 (Entry): Meets basic requirements above.
  • GS-04: One year of specialized NA or related healthcare experience, or 2 years of post‑high‑school education with relevant coursework.
  • GS-05 (Full Performance): One year of progressively responsible experience equivalent to GS-04, or a bachelor’s degree including healthcare-related coursework.

Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Ability to provide a range of patient/resident care and support nurse care plans
  • Ability to observe clinical and behavioral changes and escalate appropriately
  • Competence using common diagnostic/treatment equipment and supplies
  • Effective communication with patients/residents, families, and clinical teams
  • Ability to recognize and react to emergent care situations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in behavioral health, psychiatric or residential rehabilitation settings
  • Prior experience serving as a preceptor or training new staff
  • Demonstrated ability to work calmly under stress and manage multiple tasks

Compensation & Schedule

  • Salary range: $37,544 - $61,299 per year (range provided by confidential client)
  • Employment type: Full time
  • Typical setting: On-site (North Little Rock, AR)
  • May require standing, lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, pulling, pushing
  • May require use of personal protective equipment and periodic TB screening/testing

  • Primary work location: North Little Rock, AR (on-site). Local travel requirements, if any, will be communicated during the hiring process.
