Overview
Confidential Client (Healthcare & Nursing) is seeking a dedicated Nursing Assistant for the Community Living Center 213-2 in Los Angeles, CA. You will provide hands-on nursing support to residents and licensed staff, perform basic clinical tasks, observe and report changes in condition, and help maintain a safe, compassionate care environment in a long-term care setting.
What You’ll Do
- Provide direct care and assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding, mobility).
- Support licensed nurses with basic and intermediate clinical tasks (specimen collection, blood glucose monitoring, bladder scans, use of continuous passive motion devices).
- Observe and report changes in residents' physical or emotional status to the nurse/supervisor promptly.
- Assist with documentation and contribute to the nurse care plan.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary care team.
- Serve as a preceptor or mentor for new Nursing Assistants, as assigned.
- Recognize and respond to emergent situations; apply basic life-support measures while awaiting assistance.
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Education: minimum of one year above high school with courses related to the Nursing Assistant occupation; completion of an intensive nursing assistant course may be acceptable.
- English proficiency (spoken and written) sufficient for safe, effective patient care.
- Entry-level (GS-3): meets basic requirements; no additional experience beyond the basic requirements.
- GS-4: One year of specialized experience as a Nursing Assistant or equivalent education (2 years above high school), or relevant medical experience (LPN, health technician, hospital corpsman, etc.).
- GS-5 (full performance): One year of progressively responsible experience equivalent to GS-4 OR a bachelor’s degree with 24 semester hours in health-related coursework.
- Ability to use equipment and supplies for diagnostic and treatment procedures.
- Strong therapeutic communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Experience
- One (1) or more years of Nursing Assistant experience in a Community Living Center, skilled nursing facility, long-term care, or residential nursing care setting.
- Experience providing direct care to geriatric residents with multiple chronic conditions and complex care needs.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Regular walking, standing, stooping, lifting, bending, pushing, turning, and at times carrying heavy loads.
- Ability to use good body mechanics and maintain stamina under stress.
- Work in inpatient and long-term care environments supporting residents with acute, sub-acute, or chronic needs.
Compensation & Schedule
- Pay: $42,947 - $70,120 per year.
- Employment type: Full time, Contractor.
