What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring a Nursing Assistant (Nursing Home) to provide direct patient/resident care in a long-term care / nursing home setting. The role supports licensed nursing staff and contributes to residents’ recovery, comfort, and daily routines.
- Provide hands-on personal care (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding) and support activities of daily living.
- Assist with mobility, transfers and safe use of wheelchairs, stretchers and other equipment.
- Monitor and report changes in residents’ physical or emotional condition to nursing supervisors in a timely manner.
- Perform basic clinical tasks under supervision, such as specimen collection, blood glucose monitoring, bladder scans and use of continuous passive motion devices.
- Assist with documentation, basic administrative and clerical duties related to resident care.
- Work as part of an interdisciplinary care team to help implement care plans.
- Participate in orientation/precepting of new Nursing Assistants (applicable at higher grades).
- Respond to emergent situations (basic life support, controlling bleeding, behavior crisis assistance) while awaiting licensed assistance.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements (applicants must meet one of the following for entry-level GS-03):
- Six (6) months of general experience demonstrating ability to learn nursing assistant tasks
- OR one year of education above high school with courses related to the NA occupation
- OR completion of an intensive occupation-related training program of less than one year in the NA field
Grade-specific qualification examples:
- GS-03: Entry level — meets basic requirements; closely supervised.
- GS-04: One (1) year of experience as a Nursing Assistant or similar medical role OR two years of post‑secondary education with relevant courses. Must demonstrate ability to provide range of patient care, use basic diagnostic/treatment equipment, and communicate effectively with patients and care team.
- GS-05: One (1) year of progressively responsible NA work equivalent to GS-04 OR a bachelor’s degree with 24 semester hours related to health care. Must demonstrate higher-level KSAs including assisting with full range of nursing care, precepting new NAs, and recognizing/responding to emergent situations.
Required baseline:
- English language proficiency for written and spoken communication in direct patient care roles (per 38 U.S.C. 7402(d)).
- U.S. Citizenship or appointment conditions per Confidential Client policy (non-citizen appointments only in accordance with applicable policy).
Physical Requirements
- This is a physically active role requiring extensive standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling.
- Frequent patient transfers and occasional heavy lifting (with patient-lifting resources when available).
- Above-average agility and dexterity required.
- Ability to multitask across clinical, administrative and clerical duties.
Compensation & Schedule
- Employment type: Full time
- Salary range (provided by source): $39,021 - $63,710 per year
- Schedule: Typical nursing home shifts; may include nights, weekends and holidays depending on unit needs.
