Overview
Confidential Client is hiring a Nursing Assistant for acute care and community living center assignments. This role supports daily patient care under the direction of licensed nursing staff and is open to candidates at entry (GS-03), developmental (GS-04), and full-performance (GS-05) levels. The position is located in Johnson City, TN.

- Pay range: $41,953 - $66,501 per year
- Grade range: GS-03 to GS-05 (actual grade offered will depend on qualifications and experience)
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient/resident care and assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) under RN/LVN supervision.
- Observe and report changes in physical or emotional status to nursing supervisors promptly.
- Assist with basic diagnostic and treatment procedures (e.g., bladder scans, continuous passive motion devices, blood glucose checks, specimen collection).
- Support the nursing care plan by documenting care, communicating observations, and contributing to patient recovery goals.
- Follow infection control, safety, and patient-handling protocols.
- Communicate effectively with patients/residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Respond to emergent situations (e.g., basic life support, bleeding control) and seek assistance as needed.
- At higher levels (GS-05), serve as a preceptor/mentor for new Nursing Assistants and assist in orientation and practical training.
Minimum Qualifications
Note: Some federal positions require U.S. citizenship. Where applicable, candidates must meet any legal or client-specific eligibility rules.
GS-03 (Entry Level)
- Six months of general experience demonstrating the ability to learn the NA role.
- OR one year of education above high school with relevant coursework.
- OR completion of an intensive, occupation-related training program for Nursing Assistants.
GS-04 (Developmental/Intermediate)
- One year of specialized experience as a Nursing Assistant (or equivalent experience in a related medical field) performing technical and therapeutic tasks.
- OR two years of college with courses related to nursing or healthcare.
GS-05 (Full Performance)
- One year of progressively responsible experience equivalent to the GS-04 level.
- OR a bachelor’s degree with at least 24 semester hours of health-care related courses.
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Ability to provide a range of nursing care and contribute to care plans.
- Skill in observing, documenting, and reporting patient status.
- Competence with basic diagnostic/treatment equipment and specimen handling.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to recognize emergent patient needs and initiate appropriate interventions.
- Physical ability to perform patient care duties per occupational health standards.
Preferred
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
- Two years of inpatient or long-term care experience.
