What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring a full-time Nursing Assistant to join their Extended Care & Rehabilitation Services team at Jefferson Barracks, MO. In this role you will provide direct patient care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff and support the delivery of safe, compassionate care for patients in acute, sub-acute, long-term, or outpatient settings.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a range of patient/resident care tasks (bathing, feeding, hygiene, mobility assistance).
  • Observe and report changes in patients’ physical or emotional status to nursing supervisors in a timely manner.
  • Assist with basic diagnostic or treatment procedures and use common equipment (blood glucose monitors, bladder scanner, continuous passive motion devices, specimen collection).
  • Help implement parts of the nursing care plan and contribute to patient recovery goals.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation and communicate effectively with patients, families, and the care team.
  • Support licensed staff during emergent situations and follow established protocols (e.g., basic life support until additional help arrives).
  • Mentor or assist in orienting new nursing assistants as assigned (applicable at higher GS levels).

Qualifications (Minimum & Grade Guidelines)

The hiring grade range for this vacancy is GS-03 to GS-05. Applicants must meet the basic requirements for the Nursing Assistant occupation:

  • United States Citizenship (non-citizens may be considered under limited VA policy exceptions).

  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

  • Education: At least one year beyond high school with courses related to the Nursing Assistant occupation OR completion of an intensive occupation-related training program (documentation/transcripts required where noted).

  • Experience (as applicable by grade):

    • GS-03 (Entry): Meets basic requirements; entry-level tasks under close supervision.
    • GS-04 (Mid-level): One year of specialized NA experience or equivalent medical experience OR 2 years post-high-school coursework related to nursing/health care. Demonstrated KSAs: therapeutic communication, technical skills for basic/intermediate treatments, use of patient-care equipment.
    • GS-05 (Full performance): One year of progressively responsible experience equivalent to GS-04 OR a bachelor’s degree with 24 semester hours in health-care related coursework. Demonstrated KSAs include assisting in full range of nursing care, serving as a preceptor, and recognizing/intervening in emergent situations.

Physical & Other Requirements

  • Visual acuity, keen hearing, clear speech, and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, lift, push, and pull for extended periods; patient transfers required.
  • Potential exposure to infected patients/materials; must follow infection-control and isolation procedures and complete annual employee health requirements and testing.
  • Ability to work effectively in stressful situations and shift priorities based on patient needs.
