What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient/resident care in Jackson, MS. You will support nursing staff by performing routine clinical and non-clinical tasks that contribute to patient comfort, safety, and recovery. This role may be hired at GS-03 through GS-05 based on experience and qualifications.

• Provide personal care and basic nursing support under the direction of RNs or LPNs/LVNs.
• Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility).
• Observe and report changes in patients’ physical or emotional status to supervisors in a timely manner.
• Perform simple diagnostic and treatment procedures (e.g., bladder scans, specimen collection, blood glucose checks, use of continuous passive motion devices) as directed.
• Contribute to the completion of nurse care plans and participate in patient/resident recovery activities.
• Communicate effectively with patients/residents, families, interdisciplinary team members, and other health professionals.
• Serve as a preceptor or assist in orientation for new Nursing Assistants when required.
• Recognize emergent care situations and initiate basic interventions (e.g., basic life support, bleeding control) while awaiting assistance.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements (applicants must meet one of the following):

• United States Citizenship (per applicable federal policy for this vacancy).
• English language proficiency in spoken and written communication.
• One of:
  • Six months of general experience demonstrating ability to learn the NA role; or
  • One year of education above high school with coursework related to the NA occupation; or
  • Completion of an occupation-related training program of less than one year for entry-level GS-03.
• Experience and KSAs must be evident in your resume for grade determinations.

Grade-specific expectations:

• GS-03 (Entry level): Meets basic requirements above.
• GS-04: One year of specialized NA experience or equivalent medical experience (e.g., LPN, health technician, hospital corpsman) or 2 years of post–high-school education with relevant coursework. Demonstrated KSAs include patient care, therapeutic communication, proper use of equipment, and documentation.
• GS-05 (Full performance): One year of progressively responsible experience equivalent to GS-04 or a bachelor’s degree with 24 semester hours related to healthcare. Demonstrated advanced KSAs include precepting, recognizing and intervening in emergent situations, and independent performance of a broad range of nursing support duties.

Preferred:

• One year of experience as a Nursing Assistant.

Physical Requirements

• May require standing, lifting, carrying, sitting, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing.
• May require wearing personal protective equipment and undergoing annual TB screening/testing as a condition of employment.

• Clinical settings such as hospital, long-term care, or outpatient facilities.
• Typically adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated, but work can be fast-paced and occasionally stressful, requiring multitasking and flexibility.

Compensation & Schedule

• Employment type: Full time.
• Pay range: $37,544 - $61,299 per year (posted range for the GS-03 to GS-05 hiring band).
• Actual salary and grade depend on qualifications and experience.
