What You’ll Do

This full‑time Nursing Assistant (Geriatric & Extended Care Unit — GEC) will provide direct patient/resident care in a long‑term care / geriatric clinical setting. Core responsibilities include:

• Provide routine bedside care and assist nursing staff with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, ambulation).
• Contribute to completion of nurse care plans and support patient recovery.
• Observe and report changes in residents’ physical or emotional status to supervisors in a timely manner.
• Perform simple diagnostic and treatment support using equipment such as bladder scanners, continuous passive motion devices, blood glucose monitors, and specimen collection tools.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, interdisciplinary care teams, and other health professionals.
• Recognize and respond to emergent situations (e.g., basic life support, bleeding control, behavioral crises) and seek assistance when needed.
• Serve as a preceptor/mentor to newly onboarded Nursing Assistants when assigned, assisting with orientation and hands‑on skill assessment.

Qualifications

Applicants pending completion of required education, certification, or licensure may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.

Minimum / acceptable qualification pathways (entry through full performance levels):

• United States citizenship may be required where applicable per client policy.
• General requirement: Six months of general work experience that demonstrates ability to learn the knowledge and skills required for Nursing Assistant duties.
• Alternative education pathways:
  • One year of education above high school with courses related to the nursing assistant occupation, OR
  • Completion of an intensive, occupation‑related training program of less than one year.
• Mid‑level experience: One year of specialized experience as a Nursing Assistant or related medical role (LPN, health technician, hospital corpsman, etc.) performing technical and nursing skills, therapeutic communication, and basic/intermediate treatments.
• Education alternative for mid level: Successful completion of two years above high school in an accredited institution with courses related to nursing care or health care.
• Full‑performance level: One year of progressively responsible assignments equivalent to the mid level OR a bachelor’s degree that included relevant health‑care coursework (e.g., 24 semester hours) may qualify for the full performance level.
• Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) required:
  • Provide a range of patient/resident care and contribute to nurse care plans.
  • Observe and communicate changes in patient/resident status.
  • Properly use common diagnostic/treatment equipment listed above.
  • Communicate clearly with residents, families, and care team members.
  • Serve as a preceptor and assist with orientation and assessment of new NAs.
  • Recognize and act appropriately in emergent patient care situations.
• Preferred:
  • Nursing home / long‑term care experience preferred.
  • 1–2 years Nursing Assistant experience preferred.
  • Current, up‑to‑date CNA certification preferred.

Physical requirements:

• Work is primarily performed in climate‑controlled clinical and administrative settings.
• Mostly light physical demands; occasional lifting/carrying up to 15 pounds; frequent use of hands/fingers for computer and patient care tasks.

Compensation & Schedule

• Employment type: Full time
• Salary range (reported by client): $36,769 - $60,032 per year
• Schedule and shift details to be provided by the client at interview.

• Applicants may be considered at multiple grade/level points depending on education and experience. Final hiring decisions, exact grade, and salary placement are made by the client.
