Role & Overview

Confidential client is hiring a Nursing Assistant (Geriatrics and Extended Care) to support direct patient/resident care in a long‑term care / extended care setting. This full‑time role supports nursing staff by providing routine clinical and personal care to patients/residents, observing and reporting changes in condition, and assisting with basic diagnostic or treatment procedures under supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide a range of patient/resident care consistent with nursing care plans (bathing, dressing, mobility assistance, feeding, toileting).
• Assist nursing staff with basic diagnostic and treatment procedures (e.g., bladder scans, continuous passive motion device support, blood glucose monitoring, specimen collection).
• Observe and report changes in a patient/resident’s physical or emotional status to supervisors in a timely manner.
• Communicate effectively with patients/residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Act as a preceptor/mentor to new Nursing Assistants when assigned; assist with orientation and evaluate practical clinical performance.
• Recognize and respond to emergent patient care situations (e.g., basic life support needs, bleeding control, behavioral crises) while awaiting additional assistance.
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow infection control and facility safety protocols.

Required Qualifications

Basic Requirements (applicable at hire; see grade/level notes below):

• United States citizenship required (non‑citizens only when consistent with client policy and applicable law).
• Ability to meet physical requirements and pass any pre‑employment medical/evaluation screens.

Experience / Education options (meets different GS-equivalent levels):

• GS-3 (Entry): Six months general experience demonstrating ability to learn NA duties; OR one year post‑secondary education with relevant coursework; OR completion of an intensive NA training program (<1 year).
• GS-4: One year specialized experience as a Nursing Assistant or related medical field (LPN, health technician, corpsman) performing technical and nursing skills; OR successful completion of two years post‑secondary education with healthcare‑related coursework.
• GS-5 (Full performance): One year of progressively responsible experience equivalent to GS-4; OR bachelor’s degree (or 4 years post‑secondary study) including healthcare‑related coursework.

Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

• Ability to assist with the full range of nursing care for patients/residents with physical and/or behavioral conditions.
• Effective therapeutic communication with patients/residents, families, and team members.
• Competence using equipment and supplies for routine diagnostic/treatment tasks (listed above).
• Capability to recognize and react to emergencies and escalate appropriately.

Preferred:

• One year of Nursing Assistant experience in a hospital, long‑term care, or outpatient setting.

Compensation & Employment Type

• Employment type: Full time.
• Salary range (provided by confidential client): $39,520 - $64,524 per year.
• Location: Coatesville, PA (work performed on site).

• Role requires standing, walking, lifting, assisting with transfers, and performing hands‑on patient care. A pre‑employment physical exam or evaluation may be required.
