What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking reliable Nursing Assistants to support acute care services in Saint Louis, MO. In this role you will provide hands-on patient care, assist licensed nursing staff, and contribute to safe, compassionate recovery and daily living activities for patients in acute, sub-acute, or chronic care settings.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care (bathing, feeding, toileting, mobility support and transfers)
- Take and record vital signs; assist with specimen collection and basic diagnostic procedures (e.g., blood glucose checks, bladder scans)
- Support implementation of the nursing care plan and report changes in patient condition to licensed staff
- Assist with safe patient transfers and use of mobility/medical equipment
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, families and multidisciplinary care teams
- Follow infection control protocols, don protective equipment when required, and participate in annual health/testing requirements
- Participate in orientation and peer education when assigned; support precepting of new Nursing Assistants at higher grade levels
Qualifications
Minimum requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship may be required for this position as permitted by applicable law and client policy
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
- Education: At least one year above high school with coursework related to the Nursing Assistant occupation OR completion of a specialized NA course (documentation/transcripts required where applicable)
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role: visual acuity, hearing, manual dexterity, and the ability to stand, walk, bend, lift and transfer patients as needed
- Ability to work in fast-paced, sometimes stressful clinical situations and to shift priorities based on patient needs
Grade / experience guidance (selection may be at GS-03 to GS-05 equivalent levels):
- GS-03 (Entry) — Meets basic education/training requirements; closely supervised
- GS-04 (Mid-level) — One year of specialized NA experience or equivalent education (2 years above high school) and demonstrated KSAs (therapeutic communication, basic/intermediate treatment support)
- GS-05 (Full performance) — One year of progressively responsible assignments equivalent to GS-04 or a bachelor’s degree with health-related coursework (24 semester hours) and demonstrated advanced KSAs (precepting, emergent response, broader clinical judgment)
Required job skills / KSAs:
- Ability to provide a range of patient/resident care and contribute to care-plan completion
- Ability to observe and communicate changes in physical or emotional status promptly
- Competence using common clinical equipment and supplies
- Effective oral and written communication with patients, families and healthcare team members
- Maturity, flexibility, and professional judgment in behaviorally complex situations
Note: Applicants pending the completion of education or licensure/certification requirements may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Credit for part-time work is applied pro rata.
Physical & Work Environment
- Frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting and patient transfers are required
- Occasional exposure to infectious patients/materials and potentially combative patients
- Must meet annual employee health and testing requirements
- Duties will be consistent with applicable directives and workplace safety standards
Compensation & Schedule
- Employment type: Full time
- Salary: $42,116 - $62,882 per year (range provided by Confidential Client for this posting)
- Typical clinical shift schedules and assigned unit(s) will be communicated during the hiring process
