What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Nuclear Piping Engineer in Oak Ridge, TN. The role supports commercial nuclear projects and the piping design lifecycle — from conceptual routing and P&IDs to detailed drawings, calculations and constructability review.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist in designing, developing, testing, maintaining, and improving piping systems and associated supports.
- Design and analyze safety and non-safety piping and mechanical components for commercial nuclear projects.
- Create detailed engineering drawings, P&IDs, and 3D models for piping routes, equipment placement, and plant setup.
- Coordinate with mechanical, nuclear, operations and electrical engineering teams on piping design and interfaces.
- Apply codes, standards and regulatory guidance to ensure compliant piping and system design.
- Perform engineering calculations and document compliance with project and code requirements.
- Specify piping materials, fittings, valves, and support systems; review bills of material and data sheets.
- Review technical documents and drawings (General Arrangement, ISO, P&IDs, pipe supports, flow diagrams, calculations, design reports) for accuracy and completeness.
- Support scheduling and delivery of design work; identify and propose corrective measures to address delays or issues.
About You
Minimum qualifications:
- 0–2 years professional experience in Nuclear, Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or a related technical field (nuclear experience preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear, Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or a related technical field from an accredited college/university.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with applicable engineering software (examples noted below).
- Experience preparing technical reports and engineering documentation.
Preferred / useful technical skills:
- Exposure to PipeStress, AutoPipe, MathCAD, GT STRUDL, ANSYS or similar analysis and modeling tools.
- Ability to read and produce P&IDs, isometrics, general arrangement drawings and 3D piping models.
- Strong attention to detail, written communication, and collaborative problem-solving.
Professional registrations: none required for this role.

Compensation & Location
- Location: Oak Ridge, TN (onsite / regional expectations will be discussed during hiring)
- Employment type: Full-time
- Expected compensation: $80,000 — $90,000 per year (range depends on skills, experience, and geographic location)
