What You’ll Do

This entry-level role will contribute to reactor thermal and hydraulic performance analyses that support naval reactor systems. You will join a multidisciplinary reactor performance team and work on analyses that help ensure safe, reliable operation of Ford‑class aircraft carrier reactor plants.

  • Perform thermal/hydraulic and reactor system performance analyses using established codes.
  • Prepare, run, and interpret simulations on high-performance computing resources.
  • Support reactor core manufacturing activities and evaluate reactor plant performance.
  • Document analysis methods and results; produce technical reports and presentations.
  • Collaborate with engineers across disciplines to develop performance improvements and respond to emergent operational issues.

Required Combination of Knowledge & Skill

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in engineering or a related science from an accredited college or university.
  • Strong initiative and willingness to learn reactor analysis tools and methods.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python.
  • Academic and/or practical background in thermal/hydraulic design or analysis.

Preferred Skills

  • Degree in nuclear engineering (preferred but not required).
  • Experience or coursework in reactor thermal-hydraulics, fluid dynamics, or heat transfer.
  • Exposure to high-performance computing environments and batch-job workflows.
  • Prior use of engineering analysis codes relevant to reactor performance.

  • Pay range: $63,900 - $97,800 annually (depends on experience and qualifications).
