Overview

Confidential Client (Engineering) is hiring an entry-level NPD Support Engineer in Trinity, NC to support specification management and new product launches for mattress and foundation components. This is a training-oriented role that will expose you to multiple aspects of New Product Development (NPD) and provide a clear career path for growth.

What You’ll Do

• Design & Modeling
  • Design and develop 3D components and assemblies; create and review detailed 2D production drawings.
  • Manage engineering data, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and design workflows using SolidWorks PDM.
• Development & Testing
  • Support product development teams on components, subassemblies, and finished goods.
  • Assist with prototype builds and pilot runs alongside the Development Engineer and Prototype lab.
  • Help test components and finished products in labs (textile, spring, burn, durability, biomechanical, chemical).
• Operations
  • Drive operational improvements, training, and quality assurance activities.
  • Lead and support material/component testing, including development of test equipment and analytical methods.
  • Support supplier qualification, compliance testing, equipment maintenance, shipping/receiving, 6S activities, and general lab support.
• Communications & Systems
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support specification management and system transitions (Dynamics AX 2012, D365, PDM).
  • Help with administrative activities that enable efficient product development and on-time project delivery.

Qualifications

• Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Required technical skills
  • High proficiency in SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM.
  • Experience with Dynamics AX 2012, D365, or similar ERP/PDM environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Desired competencies
  • Strong analytical skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic project management skills; ability to develop objectives and action plans.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Fast-paced corporate office and lab environment. Some stress may occur when managing project timelines. Regular travel is not expected, though occasional travel related to program rollouts or supplier activities may be required.
