Role Overview

This Remote Noise Specialist role supports environmental and transportation projects across California (with occasional work in other U.S. regions). The Confidential Client seeks an entry–to–early-career noise professional (0–3 years) to assist with noise and vibration analyses, field data collection, technical report preparation for CEQA/NEPA projects, and collaboration with project teams and clients.

What You’ll Do

• Assist with field data collection for noise and vibration monitoring and surveys
• Quantify construction, traffic, and operational noise (HVAC, generators) and construction vibration using models and spreadsheets
• Support senior staff in preparing written technical noise reports for transportation, industrial, commercial development, and construction projects (primarily under CEQA and NEPA)
• Lead smaller noise and vibration impact analyses for land-use, infrastructure, and roadway projects as appropriate
• Research and interpret local noise ordinances and general plan policies to determine applicable thresholds
• Coordinate and conduct fieldwork using a variety of noise meters and instruments
• Help prepare Noise Study Reports (NSR) and Noise Abatement Decision Reports (NADR) consistent with 23 CFR 772 and Caltrans protocols
• Solve quantitative and qualitative problems and present findings clearly to internal teams and stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in acoustics, physics, engineering, environmental science, or a related field — or equivalent combination of education and experience in noise analysis
• Ability to conduct outdoor fieldwork and occasionally lift/carry up to 30 lbs.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and willingness to travel locally for fieldwork and meetings; occasional overnight travel may be required

Preferred / Desired Qualifications

• 0–3 years preparing CEQA/NEPA analyses (any resource topic); specific noise/vibration CEQA/NEPA experience preferred
• Experience developing and maintaining project schedules
• Strong quantitative and/or modeling skills
• Familiarity with TNM, SoundPLAN, or similar noise modeling software
• General understanding of NEPA and CEQA guidelines
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate with project managers and senior noise/transportation staff

Compensation & Employment Type

• Employment Type: FULL_TIME
• Pay range (full-time): $60,967.00 – $103,643.00 per year (California — remote/office hybrid). Final pay depends on experience, skills, location, and other factors.

Work Location & Travel

• Remote (TELECOMMUTE) with California-based team and occasional in‑office meetings in Irvine / Southern California as needed
• Fieldwork throughout California; limited overnight travel may be required
