Role overview

Confidential Client (Aerospace & Defense) is seeking a Network Operations Center (NOC) Technician for the overnight (3rd) shift at an onsite operations center in Annapolis, MD. This is a contract-to-hire position supporting a 24x7 network/security operations environment. The shift is 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM on a rotation (examples: 5 days on/2 days off; 5 days on/3 days off).


What You’ll Do

  • Monitor network management systems and engage providers to drive restoral efforts.
  • Triage, prioritize, document, and escalate incidents in the incident management tool in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve routine network, systems, and application issues; escalate moderate-to-complex issues to senior staff.
  • Apply technical knowledge to support high-availability IP networks, messaging systems, and other data communications equipment.
  • Participate in network solution design, deployment, configuration, and maintenance routines; develop tools to improve operational efficiency.
  • Provide clear guidance to internal stakeholders and external customers; maintain accurate incident and status updates.
  • Work some weekends/holidays as required by a 24x7 operations center.

Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on knowledge of TCP/IP networking protocols, and general computer hardware/software interconnection principles.
  • Familiarity with ITIL/ITSM concepts and incident management practices.
  • AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post-high-school training) plus a minimum of 6 years relevant experience, OR
    • In the absence of a diploma/AA/AS, 8 years relevant experience, OR
    • A Bachelor’s degree with less than 2 years relevant experience.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and collaboration skills; experience in a call center or customer-facing support role is preferred.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. Confidential Client will not offer sponsorship for this position.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • CCNA certification.
  • Experience with ServiceNow, Remedy, Netcool, or similar ticketing/network tools.
  • Experience working in a Network/Security Operations Center (NOC/SOC) or other 24x7 support environment.
  • Prior experience monitoring network performance and using network management platforms.

Schedule, Location & Employment Type

  • Shift: Overnight (3rd Shift) — 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM (rotating schedule).
  • Workplace: Fully onsite — Annapolis, MD.
  • Employment type: Contract to Hire (initial contract assignment with potential conversion to direct hire).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay range: $27.00 – $30.00 per hour. Actual pay offered will depend on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
