Network Operations Center Technician (3rd Shift)
The Network Operations Center Technician is responsible for monitoring and maintaining high availability IP networks and communication systems during the overnight shift. What You’ll Do
This is an overnight Network Operations Center (NOC) technician role supporting 24x7x365 operations for a Confidential Client in the IT industry. You will monitor network and communications systems, troubleshoot incidents, and escalate or restore services while keeping accurate incident records.
- Monitor network management systems and engage telecom providers to drive restoral efforts
- Track and update incident details in the incident management tool promptly and accurately
- Troubleshoot and resolve routine network and systems issues; escalate moderate-to-complex incidents
- Oversee high-availability IP networks, messaging systems, and air-to-ground data communications equipment
- Participate in configuration, deployment, maintenance routines and develop tools to improve operational efficiency
- Provide clear guidance to customers and internal teams on issue resolution
- Collaborate with senior team members on design and solution implementation
- Work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required (this posting is for the Overnight Shift, 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking protocols and basic computer hardware/software interfacing
- Familiarity with NOC operations, network monitoring tools, and troubleshooting methodologies
- Understanding of ITIL/ITSM principles
- AA/AS degree (or 2-year post-high school credential) plus a minimum of 6 years relevant experience; OR
- Without an AA/AS or HS diploma: 8 years of relevant experience; OR
- Bachelor’s degree with less than 2 years of relevant experience
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future (no sponsorship available)
Preferred Qualifications
- CCNA certification
- Experience with Remedy, Netcool, ServiceNow, or Office 365
- Strong customer service and written communication skills
Role Details
- Employment type: Contract-to-hire (onsite)
- Work location: Fully onsite in Highland Bch, MD
- Shift: Overnight (11:00 PM – 7:30 AM); role supports a 24x7x365 operations center
- Pay range: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour (range provided by Confidential Client)
