Position overview

Confidential Client is seeking a Network Operations Center (NOC) Technician to support a Distributed Training Operations Center (DTOC) in Des Moines, IA. You will join an IT team that operates and monitors mission networks used for distributed mission operations (DMO) events, provides help-desk and Tier 1 support, and assists with network incident response and cybersecurity monitoring.


What You’ll Do

  • Perform assessments of systems and networks to identify deviations from acceptable configurations and enclave/local policy
  • Monitor, control, and isolate problems in data communications networks
  • Monitor overall health of mission networks and the status of circuits
  • Activate/deactivate network lines according to established schedules
  • Perform first- and second-level problem determination and triage (first level = help desk)
  • Interface with users, network vendors, and event control staff during DMO events
  • Configure networks and connectivity for DMO events and initial account creation for DTOC mission networks
  • Respond to service outages and coordinate responses and escalations
  • Assign, modify, and delete user accounts, passwords, and privileges
  • Implement workstation software patches, security fixes, and service releases
  • Provide initial SIEM notification support and basic security-scan analysis
  • Analyze network traffic and troubleshoot DIS/HLA packets using Wireshark, DPA, or similar tools
  • Support ANG OTTI Tier 1 help desk responsibilities

Must have (Minimum qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or High School Diploma (or equivalent) plus 4 years relevant experience
  • Experience providing help desk or Tier 1 technical support
  • Basic Microsoft Windows system and user account administration experience
  • Basic network monitoring experience and ability to identify/mitigate potential network outages
  • Ability to become an expert user of DIS Gateway Core and GUI to support connectivity between remote sites, the DTOC, and the Event Control Center
  • Experience analyzing network traffic and troubleshooting DIS/HLA packets (Wireshark, DPA, or similar)
  • Basic understanding of continuous monitoring methodologies and ACAS (Assured Compliance Assessment Solution) first-phase scan analysis
  • CompTIA Security+ certification or IAT Level II equivalent
  • Current, active DoD Secret security clearance
  • Must be a U.S. citizen

Preferred qualifications

  • Working knowledge or experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
  • DISA ACAS training/certification
  • Familiarity with Linux and Windows NT-based PC operations
  • Experience with operating systems and relational DBMS such as SQL Server
  • Hands-on hardware installation and maintenance experience
  • Current Top Secret clearance

Work environment & physical requirements

  • Work may occur in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment
  • May require climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and temperature variances

Compensation & benefits

  • Anticipated salary range: $60,463 — $72,000 per year (good-faith estimate based on role location and responsibilities)
