Network Operations Center Technician

This opportunity is for a Network Operations Center (NOC) Technician supporting a confidential client in Annapolis, MD. The role is a full-time, onsite NOC position in a 24x7 operations center focused on monitoring, triage, troubleshooting, and escalation of network and system incidents. What You’ll Do
- Monitor network management and monitoring systems to detect incidents and performance issues.
- Triage incoming alerts and tickets, prioritize incidents, and apply initial troubleshooting steps.
- Track incident details and maintain accurate, timely updates in the incident management tool.
- Troubleshoot and resolve routine network and system problems; escalate moderate-to-complex issues to senior staff as needed.
- Coordinate with telecom providers and other vendors to drive restoration efforts when required.
- Apply knowledge of high-availability IP networks, messaging systems, and specialized communications equipment to identify root causes and recommend mitigations.
- Participate in deployments, configurations, and maintenance routines; help develop tools or runbooks to improve operational efficiency.
- Provide clear, professional communication to internal technology stakeholders and external customers; deliver timely incident status and resolution guidance.
- Work within established ITIL/ITSM processes and follow standard operating procedures to reduce operational risk.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking protocols, network troubleshooting, and basic computer hardware/software interconnection.
- Familiarity with ITIL/ITSM concepts and incident management best practices.
- AA/AS degree or other 2-year post-high-school training plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; OR
- In the absence of an AA/AS, 8 years of relevant experience; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with less than 2 years of relevant experience.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future; the confidential client will not provide visa sponsorship for this role.
- Strong customer service, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a high-availability, 24x7 operations environment and follow escalation processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- CCNA certification or equivalent networking certification.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring and ticketing tools such as ServiceNow, Remedy, Netcool, or similar platforms.
- Exposure to Office 365 and enterprise messaging systems.
- Experience in a Network/Security operations center or large-scale managed services environment.
- Prior call center or customer-facing technical support experience.
Schedule & Location
- Workplace type: Fully onsite.
- Location: Annapolis, MD (onsite at the confidential client’s facilities).
- Shift: Overnight shift (11:00 PM – 7:30 AM). Typical rotations include patterns such as 5 days on / 2 days off and 5 days on / 3 days off.
- This role is part of a 24x7, 365 operations center and will require some weekends and holiday coverage.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour (hourly).
- Actual pay offered will depend on qualifications, experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
- Employment type: Contract-to-hire (with potential transition to direct employment with the confidential client).
