Network Operations Center Technician (3rd Shift)
The Network Operations Center Technician provides 24/7 monitoring, troubleshooting, and escalation of network, system, and application incidents within a high-availability IP network environment. This overnight shift role requires strong technical knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, ITIL/ITSM practices, and customer service skills to support internal stakeholders and external customers effectively. The technician collaborates with senior team members to resolve complex issues and participates in network solutions design and configuration.

What You’ll Do
- Monitor network management systems and telecom/provider alerts during the overnight shift (11:00 PM – 7:30 AM) and drive restoration/escalation with vendors and internal teams.
- Intake, prioritize, triage, troubleshoot, and document incidents in the incident management tool (timely, accurate updates).
- Troubleshoot and resolve routine network/system issues; escalate moderate-to-complex incidents to senior team members.
- Oversee high-availability IP networks, messaging systems, and Air-to-Ground data communications equipment.
- Participate in network solution design, configuration, deployment, and maintenance routines; develop tools to streamline operations.
- Provide clear guidance to customers and internal stakeholders to resolve technical inquiries.
- Follow established processes and use discretion when interpreting them; escalate when broader impact or uncertainty exists.
- Work rotating overnight schedule (5 days on/2 days off; 5 days on/3 days off) — role supports a 24x7x365 operations center and requires some weekends/holidays.
Who You Are / Required Qualifications
- Hands-on knowledge of TCP/IP networking protocols and general computer hardware/software interconnection.
- Experience in a 24/7 Network or Security Operations Center (NOC/SOC) environment — familiarity with monitoring, triage, and escalation workflows.
- Understanding of ITIL/ITSM concepts and practices (experience with ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems preferred).
- Strong customer service and communication skills — you’ll interact with both internal technology teams and external customers.
- Education / experience:
- AA/AS degree (or 2-year post-high school training) plus a minimum of 6 years relevant experience; OR
- In absence of AA/AS, 8 years relevant experience; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with less than 2 years relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- CCNA certification (preferred).
- Familiarity with monitoring and ticketing tools such as Netcool, Remedy, ServiceNow, and Office 365.
- Prior call center or customer-facing technical support experience.
- Prior experience working overnight / rotating shifts in a NOC.

Job Type, Location & Schedule
- Employment type: Contract-to-hire, Full-time.
- Workplace: Fully onsite in Annapolis, MD (Annapolis / Highland Beach area).
- Shift: Overnight (11:00 PM – 7:30 AM), rotating schedule (5 days on/2 days off; 5 days on/3 days off).
- This is a 24x7x365 operations center — must be available for scheduled nights, some weekends and holidays.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour.
