Network Engineer
The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, configuring, and implementing enterprise network solutions across 150 U.S. office locations, focusing on Meraki switches and wireless, SD-WAN, and core routing/switching technologies. This hybrid role supports network operations with tier-3 technical expertise, assists in major incident remediation, and collaborates with architects and project teams to deliver timely, secure, and scalable networking solutions.

What You’ll Do
This Contract-to-Hire Network Engineer will support enterprise network design, implementation, and operations across a large multi-site environment. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Assist with planning, design, configuration, and implementation of enterprise LAN/WAN solutions
- Support migrations and cutovers (goal: multiple cutovers per week) replacing legacy switches with Meraki
- Configure and manage Meraki switches and wireless infrastructure across branch offices
- Support SD‑WAN infrastructure (Aruba/Silver Peak) and help transition to Meraki SD‑WAN as needed
- Provide Tier‑3 technical support to Network Operations and help remediate major incidents
- Work with Solutions Architects and senior engineers on technical evaluations and vendor selection
- Create and maintain technical design and implementation documentation
- Perform firewall rule changes, routing updates, packet captures and network performance analysis
- Support Azure networking tasks (NSG, VNETs) and cloud connectivity validation
- Participate in after-hours maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency response as required
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of network engineering or equivalent hands-on enterprise networking experience (or a BS in Computer Science/Engineering with 1+ year related experience)
- Hands-on experience with Cisco routers and switches and experience migrating/operating Meraki switching and wireless gear
- Strong working knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP) and enterprise WAN/Internet circuits
- Experience with SD‑WAN concepts and operational support (preferred: Aruba / Silver Peak)
- Familiarity with firewall platforms and NGFW concepts
- Experience performing packet captures and network analysis (Wireshark or similar)
- Proven ability to work independently and follow direction from senior engineering staff
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- CCNA, CCNP, CCIE or CWNA certifications
- Experience with Cisco ISE, Cisco ACI, Nexus/4500 platforms
- Familiarity with Zscaler, Palo Alto, Cisco Firepower
- Experience with SolarWinds or similar network monitoring tools
- Prior experience in large multi-site rollouts and cutover planning
Location & Schedule
- This is a hybrid position based in Simpsonville, MD.
- The role requires onsite presence approximately 3 days per week.
- This is a 6‑month contract-to-hire engagement with the intent to convert to full-time after ~6–12 months.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour (rate offered will depend on experience, skills, and other factors)
