Overview
Confidential client is seeking a seasoned .Net Software Engineer for a contract, onsite role in Fremont, CA. This position focuses on Windows desktop application development and system-level programming including Windows device drivers and hardware/software integration. Typical engagement: 12+ months. Employment type: CONTRACTOR.
What You’ll Do
- Design and develop Windows desktop applications using C# and .NET (Framework and .NET Core).
- Build and maintain WPF user interfaces for system-control and diagnostic tools.
- Develop, debug, and maintain Windows device drivers (WDM/KMDF/UMDF) and associated kernel/user-mode interfaces.
- Implement and troubleshoot IOCTL/IRP, PnP workflows and driver install scenarios.
- Integrate drivers with embedded hardware and support hardware–software testing.
- Use system-level debugging tools (WinDbg, driver verifier, WDK) to diagnose complex issues.
- Collaborate with hardware, QA, and firmware teams to isolate root causes and verify fixes.
- Perform reverse engineering and low-level troubleshooting as needed for legacy or black-box components.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years professional software development experience with C#.
- Strong experience with .NET Framework and .NET Core.
- Hands-on WPF and Windows desktop application development.
- Proven experience developing Windows device drivers (WDM, KMDF, or UMDF).
- Proficiency in C and C++ for system-level programming.
- Experience with WDK, IOCTL, IRP, PnP, and driver debugging workflows.
- Familiarity with WinDbg or equivalent Windows debugging tools.
- Experience with embedded systems or hardware–software integration and system-level troubleshooting.
- Ability to work onsite in Fremont, CA for the duration of the contract.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior work on device-driver-enabled products (USB, PCIe, custom interfaces).
- Experience with driver signing, installation packaging, and CI for drivers.
- Background in reverse engineering or low-level protocol analysis.
- Strong communication skills and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
