About the Role
Confidential Client is hiring an MTS Software Engineer (EN) to join a production engineering team that supports development, integration, and deployment of training and simulation systems. This position contributes to software development, system configuration, product-level troubleshooting, and integration activities for training system solutions used in aviation and defense environments.
What You’ll Do
You will work under general technical direction from lead engineers to implement, test, and support software and simulation components used in integrated training solutions.
- Perform engineering tasks in a production environment supporting training systems and associated software applications.
- Assist with network design and system configuration for simulation and training solutions.
- Interface platform simulation applications and help integrate components into training systems.
- Design, modify, and implement software for training system components.
- Install, configure, and support operating systems and software used in simulation environments.
- Participate in requirements review, design, coding, integration, testing, and deployment.
- Troubleshoot software and system issues; propose and implement corrective actions.
- Create and maintain technical documentation (design notes, installation guides, test procedures, support materials).
- Communicate project status, technical issues, risks, and recommended solutions to lead engineers and stakeholders.
- Follow established engineering procedures, configuration management guidelines, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, hardware, and integration engineers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline — or equivalent experience.
- 1–3 years of experience in software development, systems integration, or engineering support roles.
- Foundational knowledge of software programming, debugging, and structured development practices.
- Familiarity with operating systems, networking fundamentals, and software installation processes.
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication for status reporting and documentation.
- Ability to work collaboratively on a team with general supervision.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with simulation devices, training systems, or defense-related software environments.
- Knowledge of system integration and interfacing with simulation platform software.
- Experience with version control systems and configuration management tools.
- Familiarity with distributed computing and networking protocols used in simulation networks.
- Experience troubleshooting interactions between hardware, software, and integrated systems.
- Ability to develop or update detailed technical documentation.
Security & Eligibility
- Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.
- Incumbent must be eligible for DoD personal security clearance.
- Must comply with all company security and data protection policies; handle government and proprietary information per guidelines.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Work is performed in assembly shops, engineering labs, simulator bays, and customer sites. Tasks may be performed in climate-controlled labs and occasionally outdoors. Typical physical demands:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working on computers or engineering tasks.
- Ability to walk through simulator bays and engineering labs.
- May occasionally lift/move small equipment or components (up to ~25 lbs).
