Mortgage Community Lending Officer - Confidential Client
The Mortgage Community Lending Officer at Confidential Client is responsible for originating residential real estate loans by engaging with community clients, diverse real estate agents, and affordable housing nonprofit partners. This role involves assessing customers' financial situations, recommending lending solutions, managing client relationships, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure timely loan processing and compliance with regulatory requirements. Responsibilities
- Consult with clients about their financial situation, objectives and lending needs to help them achieve homeownership goals.
- Collect and analyze client financial data (income, assets, debts, cash flow, credit history) to evaluate potential lending solutions.
- Assess initial eligibility of customers and properties for specific mortgage products; recommend appropriate lending options.
- Explain consequences, risks and benefits of alternative lending solutions and pricing alternatives.
- Promote the Confidential Client brand and mortgage offerings to customers, real estate agents, builders, and community referral sources.
- Build and maintain referral relationships (realtors, CPAs, builders, affordable housing nonprofits) and attend 2–3 diverse realtor/nonprofit events per month.
- Conduct outreach and occasional off-site client visits as needed by geography and market conditions.
- Work cross-functionally with branch partners, operations, processors, and underwriters to ensure timely and accurate loan processing and closing.
- Refer clients to other Confidential Client segment partners (Bank, Wealth Management, Small Business, Cards) when appropriate.
- Maintain compliance with fair lending, privacy, RESPA and other consumer-lending regulations; escalate control issues and adhere to internal policy and ethical standards.
Qualifications
- Residential mortgage experience required.
- 3+ years of mortgage sales / origination experience required.
- Established relationships with diverse realtor organizations and affordable-lending nonprofit partners in the assigned territory.
- Experience with community loan products, LMI mortgage solutions, lender-paid assistance and third-party assistance programs.
- Established book of business strongly recommended.
- FHA/VA and conventional loan experience preferred.
- Ability to understand and explain financial calculations, pricing and required documentation.
- Knowledge of consumer lending laws and regulations (fair lending, RESPA, privacy).
- Demonstrated customer service, self-motivation, independent working ability and strong relationship-management skills.
- Expertise across general lending products and the mortgage industry.
Education & Licensing
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- This position requires registration as a mortgage loan originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) and obtaining a unique identifier before engaging in mortgage loan originator activities.
- Origination productivity expectation: minimum of 3 loans per month with at least 50% CRA-eligible or within minority tract mix.
Compensation & Benefits
- Primary Location Full Time Salary Range: $90,000 - $90,000 per year.
- In addition to base salary, eligible employees may receive discretionary and formulaic incentives and retention awards.

Location & Work Environment
- This role is based in Indian Creek, IL and requires community engagement and travel within the assigned territory.
