Modernization Field Coordinator
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Modernization Field Coordinator to support elevator/escalator modernization projects. This role owns pre-construction field surveys, vendor submittals, and AHJ permitting for modernization jobs. Ideal candidates are technically curious recent graduates who are comfortable taking precise field measurements and producing clear, organized documentation.
What You’ll Do
The Modernization Field Coordinator will:
- Conduct on-site field surveys of hoistways, machine rooms, pits, overheads, entrances, and associated spaces; capture accurate dimensions, conditions, and photos.
- Translate field data into standardized survey packages for equipment vendors.
- Prepare, organize, and submit vendor submittal packages; track review status and manage revisions/resubmittals.
- Prepare and submit permit applications to the applicable Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ); track approvals, respond to plan-review comments, and maintain permit records.
- Coordinate with vendors, engineers, project managers, and field crews to resolve discrepancies between field conditions and design documents.
- Maintain organized digital and physical project files for each modernization job.
- Flag field conditions that may affect scope, schedule, cost, or code compliance.
- Learn relevant code requirements (e.g., ASME A17.1 and applicable local elevator codes).
- Support senior modernization staff during job walks and pre-construction planning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (recent graduates encouraged to apply).
- 0–2 years of relevant experience; internships or co-ops in construction, MEP, or vertical transportation are a plus.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational habits.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings.
- Comfortable taking precise field measurements using tape measures, laser distance meters, and similar tools.
- Strong written communication skills for preparing professional survey and submittal documents.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel); CAD or Bluebeam experience a plus.
- Willingness to travel locally to job sites regularly.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.
- Physical ability to access elevator pits, machine rooms, and hoistways (including climbing ladders and working in confined spaces).
