What You’ll Do

• Perform and report routine microbiological testing (sample prep, plating, counts, growth promotion, streak for isolation) to support product quality and safety under USP, cGMP, and ISO 17025 practices.
• Interpret results, determine pass/fail status, and escalate unexpected findings to senior staff.
• Prepare reagents, media, and samples; support sample receipt and chain-of-custody documentation.
• Handle BSL-1 and BSL-2 microorganisms following established safety procedures.
• Maintain accurate, audit-ready documentation to ensure data integrity and regulatory compliance.
• Clean, organize, and maintain laboratory workspaces and equipment; perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
• Dispose of biohazard waste per SOPs and safety guidelines.
• Participate in training and cross-technology learning to expand skills (microbial ID, environmental monitoring, taxonomy, instrumentation).
• Provide technical support across lab workstations and assist with special projects; occasional overtime or weekend work may be required.
• Support in-house media production and aseptic preparation of microbial stocks when needed.

Who You Are

• Bachelor’s degree in microbiology or a related science (including ≥12 semester hours of hands-on microbiology/chemistry lab coursework).
• 0–2 years experience in pharmaceutical/biochemical QC, biotech, clinical, or similar microbiology lab settings preferred.
• Hands-on experience with microbial enumeration, growth promotion testing, environmental monitoring, gram staining, pipetting small volumes, or microbial identification.
• Working knowledge of microbiology principles, aseptic technique, and laboratory safety for BSL-1/BLS-2 organisms.
• Strong attention to detail and data integrity; able to follow SOPs and regulatory requirements (cGMP, ISO 17025).
• Good analytical, decision-making, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with some supervision and contribute effectively as part of a team.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Physical dexterity to perform precise laboratory testing and the ability to prioritize and complete tasks on schedule.
• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new techniques and instrumentation.
