Role overview
Confidential Client is seeking a Metrology Engineer to support calibration, measurement, and laboratory operations at their Warsaw, IN location. This role is well suited for candidates who want hands-on experience with advanced measurement tools and manufacturing-quality processes. Open to entry-level and junior candidates who demonstrate eagerness to learn and grow within a technical metrology team.
What You’ll Do
You will support day-to-day metrology and lab activities, working with senior engineers, quality, and production teams to ensure measurement accuracy and product quality.
- Support calibration, measurement, and testing of equipment and components using established procedures and industry standards (for example, ISO 17025)
- Learn to operate and maintain metrology equipment, including blue light laser scanners, portable scanning arms, hand gauges, and related tooling
- Perform routine inspections and verification activities to ensure measurement accuracy and system reliability
- Document calibration procedures, inspection results, and equipment records with strong attention to detail
- Support laboratory operations, instrument upkeep, and quality assurance practices
- Assist senior engineers with troubleshooting measurement systems and lab equipment
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to support manufacturing, launch, and research activities
- Participate in internal audits, reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Follow safety and quality protocols to maintain a compliant lab and manufacturing environment
- Stay engaged in learning new tools, software, and measurement methods as technologies evolve
- Perform other duties as assigned related to metrology and laboratory support
What You’ll Bring
We encourage applicants at the entry and junior levels as well as those with more experience. Key skills and qualifications include:
- Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or similar) or equivalent hands-on experience
- Preferred experience guideline from source posting (do not required): 8+ years with a Bachelor’s, 6 years with a Master’s, or 3 years with a PhD — however, the role is open to junior/entry candidates who can demonstrate strong potential and a willingness to learn
- Ability to quickly learn metrology software; familiarity with PolyWorks, ZEISS Inspect Pro, ATOS ScanBox, or scanning arms is a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for basic data analysis and reporting
- Willingness to learn GD&T and read technical drawings
- Basic understanding of manufacturing or quality concepts (APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC) is a plus
- Strong teamwork mindset and ability to collaborate across functions
- Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable performing hands-on work, including lifting or handling equipment up to 50 lbs as needed
