Position Overview

Confidential Client is seeking a compassionate Mental Health Therapist to join their behavioral health team in South Waverly, PA. This contract/full-time role supports patients through assessment, treatment planning, individual and group therapy, and crisis intervention in a multidisciplinary setting.


What You’ll Do

  • Conduct assessments and contribute to individualized treatment planning.
  • Provide therapeutic services across modalities: individual, group, couples, family, and crisis counseling.
  • Deliver effective crisis intervention; when necessary, support behavioral control measures in accordance with facility policy and safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation including case notes, psychosocial assessments, ED admission paperwork, and other required records in compliance with facility and state regulations.
  • Collaborate in treatment team meetings, unit council, and educational activities as directed by program leadership.
  • Engage positively with patients, families (during visiting), and the care team to support recovery-oriented outcomes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support program needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, mental health counseling, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years total mental health experience (can include internships); at least one year of related field experience.
  • Strong documentation skills and familiarity with clinical recordkeeping standards.
  • Ability to perform crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to work flexible schedules as required.

Preferred / Helpful Skills

  • Experience in behavioral health or acute care settings.
  • Experience facilitating group therapy and working with families.
  • Familiarity with emergency department admission processes and paperwork.
  • Comfort working as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
