Mental Health Technician - Weekend Night
The Mental Health Technician provides direct care and therapeutic support to psychiatric inpatients during weekend night shifts, assisting with individual and group treatment activities under RN supervision. What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking a Mental Health Technician (Weekend Night) to support inpatient behavioral health care on a part-time, contract basis. In this clinical support role you will:
- Assist in planning and implementing individual patient care and therapeutic milieu groups for psychiatric inpatients
- Provide direct patient care under RN direction, including assistance with activities of daily living and hygiene
- Perform routine treatment and diagnostic procedures as trained (EKGs, phlebotomy, blood sugar checks, bladder scans)
- Document patient interactions, behaviors, and care activities in the electronic medical record
- Respond to emergency/crisis calls and triage front-line needs according to protocol
- Participate as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team; contribute observations for care planning
- Support orientation and mentoring for new staff and serve as a resource to students and peers
- Participate in continuing education and quality improvement activities
Qualifications (Minimum)
- High school diploma/GED plus 1 year experience in related human services (healthcare, social services, education, criminal justice, pastoral care) — OR
- Minimum of 1 year of college credits (preferably Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Special Education, Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or Medicine) — OR
- At least 6 months of direct care experience (including individual and group counseling skills); direct care may include internships or clinical practicums
- 1 year of experience in Behavioral Health (listed as an acceptable alternative)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) — American Heart Association upon hire (or ability to obtain)
- Strong verbal communication, basic clinical reasoning, and ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- Knowledge of mental health and/or substance use disorders; individual and group counseling skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Education, Nursing, Medicine, or Healthcare Administration
- Prior direct care experience in an acute behavioral health setting with demonstrated mental health technician skills
Schedule & Location
- Weekend night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM; Friday–Saturday–Sunday (3 out of 4 weekends)
- Part-time / Contract
- Onsite at Confidential Client facility in Bethlehem, PA (2545 Schoenersville Rd). This position requires in-person attendance at the listed facility.

- Ability to perform patient care duties that may require standing, walking, assisting patients, and responding quickly in emergency situations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adapt to high-stress or emergency contexts
- May require background checks, drug screening, and verification of credentials in accordance with applicable law
