What You’ll Do

This on-site Mental Health Clinician II role supports patient care on an adolescent unit at a state mental health hospital (Fort Logan, Denver). You will work under the direction of a registered nurse to provide therapeutic care, psychiatric rehabilitation, and crisis intervention. Core responsibilities include:

• Provide therapeutic one-on-one care and lead psycho‑educational and skills groups to support psychiatric recovery.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed while maintaining dignity and privacy.
• Observe, document, and report patient behavior, physical condition, and response to medications and treatment.
• Participate in treatment planning and contribute clinical information to the interdisciplinary team.
• Monitor and manage the unit milieu to maintain safety and a therapeutic environment.
• Use de‑escalation and approved physical intervention techniques when required (e.g., CPI and Verbal Defense & Influence principles).
• Escort and transport patients on campus and to community appointments when needed.
• Float/rover duties across units as assigned and complete required documentation per hospital policy.
• Other duties as assigned to meet the mission of the division and department.

Who You Are / Minimum Qualifications

To succeed in this role you must have:

• Four (4) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position OR
• A combination of education and experience equal to four (4) years (e.g., a Bachelor’s degree may substitute for years of experience on a year‑for‑year basis).
• Ability to work shift schedules (days, evenings, nights) and meet essential services designation requirements.
• Valid, unrestricted U.S. Driver’s License.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Willingness and ability to pass a full background and reference check.

Preferred Qualifications & Competencies

Preferred experience and skills include:

• Prior experience as a Mental Health Clinician I at a state mental health institute or comparable inpatient psychiatric setting.
• Experience in inpatient adolescent psychiatric care and running treatment groups.
• Familiarity with Trauma Informed Care and recovery‑oriented practices.
• Strong oral and written communication, teamwork, problem solving, and professional judgment.
• Ability to model professional boundaries, foster team spirit, and encourage patient self‑determination.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay: $25.23 – $31.88 per hour.
• Shift differential: Nights and weekends may be paid at an additional 14%–20% above base pay (per client policy).
• Employment Type: Full time, On‑site.
