This role manages membership records, supports recruitment campaigns, and provides member assistance at key industry events, contributing to measurable membership growth and engagement.

Role summary
Confidential Client is seeking an early-career Membership Development & Services Specialist to help grow and strengthen membership across the recreational sportfishing industry. This is a hands-on role focused on membership outreach, onboarding, retention, and member services support for major industry events. The role reports to the Director of Membership and works closely with communications, events, and government affairs teams.
What You’ll Do
- Support membership recruitment by identifying and prospecting prospective organizations across the recreational sportfishing sector.
- Conduct outreach to prospects and current members by phone and email; articulate membership benefits and value.
- Maintain an organized pipeline of prospects and document outreach, follow-up, and outcomes in the membership database.
- Support membership renewal campaigns and follow-up activities to improve retention and engagement.
- Serve as a responsive point of contact for member inquiries and onboarding new members.
- Process membership applications, invoices, payments, and account updates accurately.
- Produce regular membership reports and prospect lists for the Director of Membership.
- Provide membership-related support for major industry events (e.g., trade shows, summits) and offer on-site member assistance as needed.
- Coordinate with cross-department teams to ensure members receive timely, relevant information.

Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $60,000–$70,000 DOE.

Qualifications
- 1–5 years relevant experience (membership, customer service, sales, business development, account management, fundraising, hospitality, or similar). Strong entry-level candidates will be considered.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Comfortable initiating and managing telephone and email outreach.
- Strong interpersonal skills and customer-service orientation.
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with an association management system or CRM is helpful; familiarity with iMIS is a plus.
- Interest in recreational fishing, outdoor recreation, trade associations, or membership organizations is helpful but not required.
- Ability to travel several times per year for events and meetings.
Location & Work Environment
- Position based in Trade, VA (on-site/hybrid arrangements should be confirmed with the hiring team).
- Some event- and travel-related work throughout the year.
