Overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Member of Technical Staff (Software Engineer) to develop and maintain high-performance, low-latency inference infrastructure that supports production machine learning workloads. This role focuses on deploying and optimizing scalable inference services, working across teams to ensure reliability, observability, and cost-efficient operation of inference pipelines.

What You’ll Do

• Implement and operate infrastructure for low-latency, high-throughput inference services.
• Deploy, configure, and maintain Kubernetes-based services and containerized inference workloads.
• Optimize resource allocation, autoscaling policies, and scheduling to balance latency requirements and cost.
• Integrate inference services with Dockerized environments and CI/CD pipelines.
• Design and implement multi-region deployments, HA strategies, and disaster recovery plans.
• Build Python-based tooling and APIs for preprocessing, inference orchestration, and post-processing.
• Collaborate with ML engineers to validate model performance and latency against SLAs.
• Investigate and resolve production incidents using logs, metrics, and distributed tracing.
• Create automation to detect and mitigate common failure modes to improve system reliability.
• Write clear technical documentation for infrastructure, APIs, and operational runbooks.
• Participate in release planning, prioritization, and cross-functional design reviews.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum of 1 year total experience in software development or related engineering roles (full-time or equivalent part-time/internship experience accepted).
• Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, product, and operations teams.

Required Technical Skills

• Docker and Kubernetes
• Java or C++
• Messaging systems: ActiveMQ and Kafka
• Python or Groovy
• JavaScript or TypeScript
• Linux system administration
• SQL, OracleDB, and Redis
• Git and version control workflows
• Experience with observability tools (logs, metrics, distributed traces) is highly desirable
