Role overview

Confidential Client is seeking a Medical Technologist II to join automated lab services on a part-time, day-shift schedule. This role performs routine and specialized testing, reviews and approves clinical test results, and supports high-complexity laboratory operations in compliance with CLIA standards.

• Employment type: Contract / Part-time (20 hours/week)
• Schedule: Day Shift
• Location: Germantown, MD (on-site)
• Retention bonus: $10,000 to eligible external hires
• Pay range: $29.86 – $43.34 per hour (based on experience, skills, and education)

What You’ll Do

• Perform routine and specialized clinical laboratory procedures for a high-complexity laboratory.
• Review, interpret, and approve clinical test results for use in patient diagnosis and treatment according to established protocols.
• Operate and maintain automated laboratory systems and instruments.
• Follow quality-assurance procedures and maintain accurate documentation.
• Participate in proficiency testing, calibration, and troubleshooting of equipment as required.
• Collaborate with laboratory staff, clinicians, and leadership to support patient care and laboratory workflow.
• Support the mission and values of the Confidential Client by delivering safe, patient-centered laboratory services.

Minimum Qualifications

One of the following education/experience pathways is required:

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Technology (Medical Technology), biological, chemical, or related science plus satisfactory completion of a clinical laboratory educational rotation;
  -or-
• Baccalaureate degree with required coursework in biological science, chemistry and mathematics plus successful completion of a NAACLS-accredited Medical Technologist program;
  -or-
• Baccalaureate degree with 16 semester hours of biological science (including one semester microbiology), 16 semester hours of chemistry, one semester of mathematics, and one year of full-time acceptable clinical laboratory experience in Blood Banking, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunology and/or Clinical Microscopy within the last ten years. Clinical experience must be supervised by an appropriate board-certified clinical laboratory professional.

Additional requirements/notes:

• New graduate to 5 years of clinical laboratory experience.
• Current or eligible certification (ASCP, AMT, NCA) desirable but not required if documented training and education are provided; previous HEW-certified MTs may be considered.
• General knowledge of lab methodologies, result interpretation, and QA practices.
• Completion of an accredited internship or documented on-the-job training in an accredited laboratory.
• Basic computer literacy and strong oral/written English communication skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team-focused environment.

Preferred Experience & Skills

• Experience with automated laboratory instruments and workflows.
• Familiarity with CLIA regulations and high-complexity testing environments.
• Experience across multiple laboratory sections (Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Blood Banking).
• Demonstrated commitment to quality, safety, and customer service in clinical settings.

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly pay range: $29.86 – $43.34 (based on experience, skills, education).
