What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking a Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing) to support sterile processing operations in a clinical setting. You will play a key role in ensuring surgical and clinic instruments are cleaned, inspected, assembled, sterilized, stored, and tracked to support safe patient care.
- Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical and clinic instruments and specialty trays
- Operate and monitor sterilization and cleaning equipment (e.g., steam sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaners)
- Follow sterilization, infection control and universal precautions to prevent cross contamination
- Perform instrument and supply inventory, stock management, and basic supply coordination
- Maintain clear documentation and instrument tracking per facility procedures
- Communicate effectively with clinical teams, follow written procedures, and escalate issues when needed
- Support quality control checks and participate in process improvement initiatives
Qualifications
This position follows the qualification framework in the source specification. Candidates must meet at least one of the following basic pathways and demonstrate the required knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs).
- U.S. citizenship required (per client policy)
- Experience pathway: Six months of experience that demonstrates ability to perform sterile processing work or understanding of the work
- Education pathway: One year above high school that included at least 6 semester hours in health-care related courses (examples: sterile processing, nursing assistant, operating room/surgical technician)
- Experience/education combination: Equivalent combinations of education and experience are acceptable for entry-level consideration
- Grade / progression notes: Selection may be made at GS-3 through GS-6 equivalent levels; full performance level is GS-6
- Must be proficient in spoken and written English as required for the role
Demonstrated KSAs (examples expected across levels)
- Knowledge of universal precautions and infection prevention
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and surgical instruments
- Working knowledge of sterilization and cleaning equipment, and event-related packaging/sterility concepts
- Ability to read and follow written instructions, document work, and communicate clearly

- Salary: $37,406 - $68,078 per year
